Beguiled by a desert mirage: Hudson leaves Powerhouse Program!

Hudson makes a move that leaves most of us Aztec fans scratching our heads and asking a simple question. Why would a coach leave a dominate program that has now achieved national prominance, for a program that is on its way down and will never again be what it “once’ was; and i mean literally “once” was… way back in 1990? SDSU is the jewel of the NCAA Basketball landscape. Coaches from across the country would give their right-arm to coach in America’s finest city for an established program that now has its eye on continued NCAA tournament appearances as well as deep runs to the final four. SDSU is the now the UCLA of the West. Top recruits are drooling over the possibility of playing for SDSU. I mean: … Read entire article »

The changing of the guard: Aztecs hand UNLV their 5th straight loss

Kawhi Leonard got his double-double; Billy White fouled out; DJ Gay continues to display guard play par excellence; Chase Tapley sat on the bench for the second game in a row; and, SDSU displays freakish free throwing going 20/22 behind the line. Yes, that was how it went down at the Thomas and Mack. What makes the Aztecs so good is their depth at all positions. UNLV was handed the game yet lost. You name it, SDSU gave it! Foul trouble for both Malcolm and Billy; bogus charging calls against SDSU, too many turnovers by the Aztecs; Home court advantage for the rebels and much more gave the Rebels opportunity after opportunity to steal the game. Yet, the mighty Aztecs find a way to edge the Rebels and win their … Read entire article »

Jim Sterk is New AD for SDSU:

Its interesting to note that SDSU has chosen Jim Sterk as the new AD. Interesting because UNLV recently chose Jim Livengood from Arizona; both are from the PAC-10. Couple these two new hires with Larry Scott’s, (the newly appointed PAC-10  commissioner), consideration for expanding the PAC-10 by two more teams, and you have a recipe that positions both of these schools as ripe candidates for selection into the PAC-10. Recent National News media outlet reports have suggested several scenarios regarding the potential pool of candidates. Ted Miller from ESPN said: “the first issue is the small pool of potential candidates. The teams most often mentioned — mostly by fans — are Utah, BYU, Boise State, San Diego State, Colorado, Fresno State, Nevada, UNLV and TCU.” If one were to focus their attention … Read entire article »

SDSU verse UNLV: Round 3

Playing UNLV twice and winning is a formidable task: playing UNLV three times and winning the tri-fecta is a seemingly impossible task. Yet, this is what SDSU faces and it appears that if they lose they will end up looking outside in when it comes to the toruny selection. Fair or unfair that’s the reality-the biased and inequitable reality. The BCS is rigged (we all know that), and ostensibly needs to be changed; but, that conversation is for another day. Moreover, SDSU should be in regardless of where they finish in the MWC tournament. After sweeping a team that proved to be difficult to beat at home and then once again by 11, losing in the first round shouldn’t be too much of a concern. But then again, winning solves … Read entire article »

Anthony Williams headed to UNLV

Anthony Williams signals his choice of schools by providing UNLV with a solid verbal. A 4-Star shooting guard (Rivals.com), he was recruited by UCLA, SDSU, and Stanford to name a few. He scores a 91 grade by ESPN U for his quickness and good release. Considered one of the better rebounding players in the nation; he could prove to be an imposition for SDSU given his exceptional defending skills. Article viewed:259 … Read entire article »
