Aztecs crack Top 25: In AP only!
Aztecs finally crack the Top 25 but only in the eyes of the AP. The coaches poll continues to disrespect SDSU by keeping them out of the Top 25. Harvard is 24th in the AP and 23rd in the Coaches Poll; your kidding right? No, as it stands now Harvard currently 10-1 and has played only one Top 25 team #9 Connecticut; they lost that game by 14 points. Harvard’s schedule is suspect to say the least; meaning, it’s a joke in terms of schedule strength and competition against Top 25 teams. You know, these polls are beginning to look a lot like the BCS. Article viewed:380 … Read entire article »

Aztecs SNUBBED again in Top 25 – But Harvard got-in!
I was reading an article from Fox News today that lauded Creighton’s win over SDSU; it said the following: “Creighton is already getting the street cred and a well deserved Top-25 ranking with victories over Big Ten foes Iowa and Nebraska, as well as a very impressive two-point victory at San Diego State.” If it was that impressive then why is SDSU not in the Top 25, yet Harvard is? No-no, I am not kidding – Harvard! Harvard breached the top 25 with 191 PTS in the AP Top 25. SDSU received 50 points and is currently ranked 29th in the Nation. And there is more. What would the ESPN rankings be without utter absurdity plus a blatant bias. The ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll has California ahead of SDSU by 2 … Read entire article »

Hey Coaches and ESPN: I think the Aztecs are a Top 25 team!
If ESPN had their way, I am certain that SDSU would remain out of the Top 25. Nevertheless, let us examine the facts. Texas A&M who is currently ranked number 25 in the AP Poll and 24th in the ESPN coaches poll, beat St. Johns by one-point back on Novemeber 18th. Why is this significant you ask? St. John’s lost to Arizona (81-72) on November 17th when Arizona was ranked 16th in the nation. SDSU … Read entire article »

Well, maybe they are who we thought they weren’t!
SDSU 27 – Air Force 25 I like when I have to eat my thread. In this case, when responding to the BYU loss last week I had given up on SDSU’s ability to win that signature game; at least for this year. However, I am happy to report, that I was wrong. The Aztecs have shown that they are Bowl worthy by defeating Air Force. I must admit, the last two-minutes of the game had me thinking Missouri all over again. No, not this time, they actually (to my surprise) found away to finish the game in the fourth quarter. Ronnie Hillman’s performance tonight takes me back in time to the early ninetys. It was then, when we Aztec fans saw the great-one Marshall Faulk work his on-field magic. … Read entire article »

ESPN Preseason Poll has SDSU Basketball at 24th in the Nation!
From ESPN’s Andy Katz: 24. San Diego State: This Mountain West spot was originally reserved for BYU. Of course, the return of Jimmer Fredette gives the Cougars the top player in the league, but the combination of losing Michael Loyd (transferring) and senior Jonathan Tavernari makes me pause. New Mexico could’ve been here had Darington Hobson decided to stay in school. And picking UNLV would have been a safe choice, too. But I watched San Diego State push Tennessee to the brink in the first round and its talent abounds. Rebounding machine Kawhi Leonard is back for a second go-around, along with Billy White, Malcolm Thomas and D.J. Gay. The entire team is back. What the Aztecs must do is make themselves more of a national story. San Diego State … Read entire article »

Aztec Win over New Mexico-No Big Suprise
I am not surprised by this win. After all, if you or anyone else would have performed due diligence regarding the Aztec players, you would have responded the same way I did. See, when the Aztecs play at their level, they will beat about anyone in the country; they are simply that good. Yes, I understand that New Mexico has received all of the attention (excluding ESPN of course), given the fact that they are a “Top 25″ team. I have to laugh at that one, because SDSU continues to get snubbed by the national media and the Pollsters; yet, they smoked Arizona and dismantled New Mexico. The game was close but only in score. Malcolm Thomas was simply on fire leading the team with a season high 18 points and … Read entire article »

They are who we thought they were and they are only going to get better.
The SDSU Aztec basketball team has a 10-3 record. The best start since the 1984-85 season. But, most of you expected that-right! Of course, SDSU has amassed a consortium of talent that has them tapping on the doors of top 25 preeminace. Well, hyperbole aside, they are good and they are only going to get better. The momentum is building every week. As I observe the play of this team in each game, I see positive trends that encourage as well as excite when contemplating the potential success of the team. The next 16 games will be conference play, and that presents many challenges given the fact that teams know each other and play each other twice in the season. So, will this team perfrom any different than in previous … Read entire article »
