Your kidding-Kansas!
I mean your kidding right Kevin Johnson. Kansas over San Diego! I mean surely you jest; or, maybe you are just too stupid to jest. You turned down hot women; beaches; nightlife, America’s finest city and most of all, a top-10 powerhouse basketball program for KANSAS! I mean you must be kidding; I know April 1st has past, so your joke isn’t funny at all. Now-now, come to your senses and just tell everyone it’s just a simple mistake and you really do want to play for SDSU-not prairie-vill Kansas. Who in their right freak-in mind would choose Kansas over SDSU. This maneuver has broken all boundaries of common sense; the ubiquitous dumb just got dumber! Wow! Has the modern day athlete lost all of his critical thinking skills? By the … Read entire article »

Who’s on the recruiting radar for 2012?
A couple of high profile (4-Star) players from the west coast are on SDSU’s Radar. Xavier Johnson is the first player of interest that SDSU has offered a scholarship too. A small forward, Xavier exhibits all the early signs of an elite player; at 6-7 190lbs, Xavier is long and slender with prolific athleticism: a prototypical Fisher recruit. His innate feel for the game makes him a natural on the court and will provide an immediate impact for the team he invariably plays for; hopefully SDSU. He plays for Mater Dei High School and is expected to be heavily recruited by Pac-10 schools such as Arizona State; UCLA; USC and others. These highly visible programs will certainly play an adversaries role in attempting to spoil SDSU’s attempt to secure their … Read entire article »

JJ O’Brien makes it official!
J.J. O’Brien made his transfer from Utah official and signed a financial-aid agreement with San Diego State, which also allows Aztecs basketball coaches to talk about him. “I recruited him really hard out of high school and was very saddened when we didn’t get him,” Coach Steve Fisher said of the 6-7 forward who will have three years of eligibility remaining after sitting out next season. “He’s a winner. He’s a guy who makes everyone around him better. “Very intelligent, can play multiple positions, a phenomenal asset to us both as a person and as a player.” Echoing his comments is former Utah coach Jim Boylen, who was replaced after the season by Larry Krystkowiak. “He was a great guy to coach,” Boylen said. “He’s a big-time, versatile guy who can guard … Read entire article »

Is there a bounce in Basketball recruiting already?
It has been over two months since the greatest Basketball season in SDSU history concluded. With Kawhi prematurely entering the NBA, and the loss of three other notable starters, SDSU is ripe with scholarships. Now, one would surmise that any recruiting jump SDSU might get from this years success would probably occur in a year or two. However, after evaluating the talent-laden landscape of potential candidates, SDSU stands a good chance of landing a couple key players that might just add an immediate impact. One notable prospect is shooting guard Matt Shrigley from La Costa Canyon. He is 6-5 and scores a 90 scout rating. From ESPN’s evaluation: “Shrigley is a solid jump shooter out to 20-feet. He gets good lift on his shot and his release is quite good. He … Read entire article »

Olu Ashaolu considering SDSU
A 6-7, 228 lb Power Forward recruited by LA Tech in 2007 has left to pursue his basketball future either with SDSU or Oregon. Currently in talks with SDSU, Olu who received a 91 scouts grade by ESPN and 4 stars from Scout.com, averaged 14.2 PPG; 9.4 RPG and shot almost 30 from behind the arc while at LA Tech. Looks like Fisher is looking for a tweener to fill the roll of Kawhi Leonard if he leaves. No worries, even if Kawhi stays, Olu will add that desired depth coveted by MWC teams that play at altitude. Gary Franklin Jr considers SDSU high on his list of schools
Three Franklins? San Diego State’s basketball team already has two unrelated players named Franklin on its roster, freshmen LaBradford and Jamaal Franklin, and now heralded freshman guard Gary Franklin Jr. is considering the Aztecs as a possible transfer destination. Cal announced earlier this week that Franklin Jr. has left the program, and Gary Franklin Sr. confirmed SDSU is among the schools his son has received a release to speak with. At least six other schools are said to be in the running: UNLV, New Mexico, Texas A&M, Georgetown, UTEP and San Jose State. Of the seven, the No. 6 Aztecs are currently the highest ranked (Georgetown is No. 13 and A&M is No. 16) and the only one in Southern California. Franklin Jr. played for Orange County’s Mater Dei High and … Read entire article »

DeShawn Stephens going to SDSU!
DeShawn Stephens, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound sophomore at Santa Monica (Calif.) College de-commits from Utah State and heads south to SDSU. With prospect Bryant Crowder out of the picture, this stands to be a great pick-up for SDSU. His athleticism will merge well into Fisher’s offensive and defensive schemes. He should see many minutes early in next year’s campaign. Looks as if Mr. Fisher has found his replacement for Billy White. With the true freshman Labradford Franklin and Jamal Franklin along with James Rohan, the class of 2011-12 is shaping up to be another explosive team. Oh, and if Kawhi makes the right decision by staying for his Junior year, well, all I can say is-WOW! Article viewed:130 … Read entire article »

Norman Powell: Verbal Commitment with UCLA
SDSU is a Pre-season Top-25 basketball juggernaut; UCLA is basement dwelling basketball program on life support. SDSU is right in Norman Powell’s backyard with a prolific coach at the helm. SDSU is getting all the media attention and has NBA calipar super stars on its roster. SDSU’s offensive style is based on fast transition-breaks as well as a coach that has a conduit to the NBA power brokers called coaches. Why in the hell then, did Powell commit to UCLA! ! That decision will always remain a mystery but as far as I am concerned that man made a bone-head decision that I am sure was predicated on the UCLA head coach promising “hope and change”. Yeah, we have all heard that somewhere before. Good luck Powell, your going to need it! Article viewed:122 … Read entire article »

4-Star Norman Powell is considering SDSU
Powell is a dynamic shooting guard that is getting a lot of attention; specifically from schools such as: UCLA, Arizona State, California and most importantly SDSU. ESPN has rated the 4-Star at 93, but that may go higher as he continues to improve his play. From my perspective it’s no-brainer; he would fit perfectly into the Fisher schematic. Ostensibly, he possesses the prototypical characteristics that Fisher looks for: athleticism, quickness and a basketball savvy. Hopefully Powell will be paying attention to this years SDSU team; that team will give pause to anyone who is on the recruiting radar of SDSU. This team is poised to go deep and rise Nationally in the ranks as well garner huge attention from the “elite” media. As a shooting guard he would serve well under … Read entire article »

4-Star Kyle Caudill considers SDSU a serious possibility
Kyle Caudill was once committed to Arizona State but decided to back out and rethink his recruitment. The Brea (Calif.) Brea Olinda center said making a commitment so early was a teenager’s decision. But that doesn’t mean the Sun Devils still aren’t being seriously considered by Caudill, a 6-foot-11, 260-pound recruit who was one of the better players at the Double Pump May Tournament last weekend in Carson, Calif. “I was committed there and that’s still a possibility for me,” Caudill said. “I love coach (Herb) Sendek but I just kind of rushed into a decision the first time. I’m still really looking at them. “They’re definitely not out. They’re still very much alive. I just made a 16-year-old decision.” Arizona State, Harvard, Oregon State and San Diego State have offered … Read entire article »
