3-Star Nico Siragusa still considering SDSU
Siragusa is a big athlete at 6-6, 300 lbs; more importantly, he likes what he sees at SDSU. Moreover, Rocky Long likes what he sees in Siragusa. It’s clear the direction Rocky is headed with SDSU; he’s targeting and getting a big offensive front. Rocky’s intentions have been no secret from the begginning when he took over the sleeping giant at SDSU. He wants to be competitive with the “BIG” boys (i.e., BCS). Reeling in … Read entire article »

We Got’em! Matt Shrigley that is…
Wow. Another stellar recruit headed to SDSU. Matt Shrigley is from La Costa Canyon and grades out at 90 via ESPN. From ESPN the following profile sums up Matt’s abilities on the court Strengths: Shrigley played with purpose and toughness and it was especially exemplified in the way he attacked off the dribble. His shooting touch is quite good out to the stripe, but if he continues to not settle for jump shots and attack in traffic with more consistency, his stock will rise. His frame needs strength, but he is deceptively bouncy as he had a couple of dunks that were highly impressive in traffic. Weaknesses: Shrigley has a rangy frame that needs to get stronger. He can elevate to the rim, but he has to finish more consistently with contact. He is … Read entire article »

SDSU Drafts Big man Bryant Crowder: Looks like a Habel
Bryant Crowder is a big, athletic, high-flying, shot blocking machine. As the video shows he is remarkably agile for a 6-10 profile. He reminds of a a previous player by the name of Jerome Habel. At 6-10, 220lbs, Habel was quick and athletic; dominated the inside with his aggressive play and was always willing to put in a show when given an opportunity. I see similar traits from Crowder. he should provide an added dimension not seen since the arrival of Habel in 2006: a big yet quick presence on the court. Article viewed:474 … Read entire article »

Chad Jeffries commits to SDSU
Chad Jeffries, a 6’3”, 195 pound QB prospect from Glendora High School (Glendora, CA). Jeffries shows poise in the pocket and agile and quick enough to elude the pass rush. His arm strength looks good; has a quick release and great accuracy and mechanics. These skill sets should continue to improve under the tutelage of Sipe and Hoke. Most notable skill is his ability to by time (looks similar to Donavon Mcnabb). Chad had his choices, most notably: Oregon State, UTEP, Utah and Boise state. Yet, he chose SDSU. A top prospect this one ends up as a good pick-up for SDSU. I give this recruit a B+: he needs some seasoning but there isn’t any reason not believe that he will emerge as a top asset in the 2011 SDSU … Read entire article »

Xavier Thames selects SDSU
3-Star Xavier Thames decides that SDSU is the place to be. Another point guard will certainly add the needed depth at that position. Losing Richie Williams two years ago left SDSU with a void at the Point Guard position. Now, with labradford Franklin and Xavire Thames at the helm, SDSU has secured strength at the valuable position of Point Guard for years to follow. Xaier was a coveted recruit; receiving interest from UCLA, St. Marys, Arizona including SDSU. ESPN’s write up on Xavier was favorable; here is an excerpt: “Thames is one of the top sleepers in the class of 2009. He is a combo-guard with very good quickness and speed with the ball. In addition, he has a solid frame with fairly long arms. Thames is much more of a scorer at this … Read entire article »

Status of Eric Lawton
From the Union Tribune: The San Diego State men’s basketball team has lost a top recruit because of academic issues… I recently read that he hasn’t given up on SDSU. He will play for a JC for one year and more than likely be back on the campus for 2011. One can only hope. Article viewed:303 … Read entire article »

Steal of the Year: Leonard gives Solid Verbal!
Kawhi Leonard, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound versatile wing from Riverside (Calif.) Martin Luther King gives SDSU the A-Okay with a Solid verbal. This might very well be the steal of teh year in NCAA recruiting class of 2009. Memphis, UCLA, not even Arizona could get to him. Its all about the weather and the beaches my Aztec cronies. Reports have him as a high-major prospect with NBA skill-set. His high school play gives every indication that he will be a solid 3-point shooter; averaging a whopping 45% from the arc. Averaging 17.2 ppg, he will be a challenge to stop. This player not only adds depth to an already potent class of recruits, he adds perimeter scoring power too. See Video below of his play. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_yrgzfFofI Article viewed:400 … Read entire article »
