Aztecs go to 5-3 against worst team in the 120 Team Div-I League
Aztecs were less than impressive in their first-half hard fought win against arguably the worst team in the last two years in Division-I football. Wow, a 7 point lead going into the second-half was unnerving to say the least as a fan. Watching the game during the first-half had me reminiscing about the Aztec’s of yesteryear; meaning, playing inconsistent football coupled with finding ways to keep teams in the game and subsequently lose. Well, they didn’t do that tonight and found a second-half gear to dismantle any residual threat by New Mexico to win 35-7. Ronnie Hillman gets player of the game once again with 29 carries for 143 yards. Article viewed:141 … Read entire article »

Aztecs Win without Style
If their is such a thing as an ugly win, the Aztecs just gave us one. This game was terrible from start to finish but, it was a win. Given past efforts SDSU would have lost the game if played as poorly as they did tonight. I for one expected them to blow New Mexico out!! Call it a let down; or, looking ahead to next opponent; whatever it may be, they must stop playing down to their competition. The Aztecs need to capitalize on opportunities like this game and score some style points. Aztecs 30 – New Mexico 20 And no it wasn’t close! Article viewed:115 … Read entire article »

What comes around goes around…
Ahhhh yes, I remember it well; Ryan Lindley was a freshman and Chuck Long was at the helm. Then it happen the Lobo beat down clinic commenced and the hapless Aztecs suffered what would be the third worst lost in school history. Too say the least, I was embarrassed; one can only imagine the humiliation that permeated the team on that evening. The demonstrative chart below shows how egregious that football game turned out.: The chart speaks for itself. However, a new era of football preeminence in Aztec football has me licking my chops and looking forward to this week (as I am sure those who witness the 70-7 abomination are too as well). It is therefore fitting that I leave our friends in New Mexico with a parting cliche: … Read entire article »

Aztec Win over New Mexico-No Big Suprise
I am not surprised by this win. After all, if you or anyone else would have performed due diligence regarding the Aztec players, you would have responded the same way I did. See, when the Aztecs play at their level, they will beat about anyone in the country; they are simply that good. Yes, I understand that New Mexico has received all of the attention (excluding ESPN of course), given the fact that they are a “Top 25″ team. I have to laugh at that one, because SDSU continues to get snubbed by the national media and the Pollsters; yet, they smoked Arizona and dismantled New Mexico. The game was close but only in score. Malcolm Thomas was simply on fire leading the team with a season high 18 points and … Read entire article »

Why Drew Gordon should have selected SDSU
Drew Gordon had an opportunity to make the right choice; yet he chose New Mexico. There are many schools of thought regarding why Drew ultimately chose New Mexico; however, I can’t imagine what New Mexico had over San Diego. Nevertheless, here is my analysis as to why Drew should have chosen SDSU over New Mexico. Let’s start with the most obvious reason. His father is an alumnus of SDSU and played on the Basketball team with the likes of Cage and Gwynn. This tie is a strong one and I’m sure that his father (deep down) would like nothing more than to see his son play for his Alma-mater. The second reason has to do with geography. SDSU is close to his family when compared geographically to the other locations. His father … Read entire article »
