Recruit Profile: Dan Kottman
Once again, SDSU recruiting shows up in Texas and reels in a sleeper. Daniel Kottman from Denton Texas has committed to SDSU. This recruit appears to be a prototypical Rocky Long recruit; Kottman can bench press 315 pounds, squat 500, clean 330, and can do a standing back flip. He possesses the quintessential physical attributes that will make him a top-rated defensive player at the next level. He has great field awareness and explodes off the ball using a low center of gravity that enables him to shed his opposition with ease and pursue the ball with aggressiveness every play. The ability to disrupt offensive schemes early forces offenses into compromising situations which invariably leads to broken plays or turnovers. Sam Tai on SDSU’s Radar
Who is Sam Tai? A prototypical defensive end (and good quarterback too) that displays an impressive football resume. A strong and quick player, Sam possesses great lower body strength that matches up well against big offensive tackles. His quickness would afford the desired pressure on a QB that Borges needs to run his defense scheme effectively. At 6′4 and 234 pounds the athletically gifted Tai played quarterback last year as well as earning “All League” honors at defensive end. In 2009 he had four sacks and 32 tackles while playing both ways. Sam Tai’s list of offerings is impressive (Table below from Scout.com). Although its highly unlikely that SDSU lands this … Read entire article »

Aztec Defense 10th in the Nation!
Annoying, daunting, relentless and unforgiving: adjectives that only begin to describe the suffocating defense of the mighty Aztecs. Nationally, the Aztecs are ranked 10th in the Nation, keeping every opponent except one under 60 points. Case in point, the ASU Sun Devils (Top 25) have scored 80 plus points against 5 of 7 opponents; and 60 or more against all but one opponent; the Aztecs who held them to just 59 points, their lowest point total this season. Steve Fisher indicated that he had made some changes, well its evident where some of those changes were made. What’s more promising is the intense play by a team that is absent one of the top players in the MWC, Lo-Wade. The USD game was not without its absent-minded play, but like Football, sometimes poor play coupled with a low scoring offense … Read entire article »
