Business as usual: Aztecs crush Cougars!

A 23 game losing streak to BCS teams and 19 consecutive losses to PAC-12 opponents is over!!!! 42-24 was the final score in front of almost 60,000 fans (57,286). The Aztecs are now undefeated and 3-0 for the first time since 1981. Think about that: where were you in 1981? Or, were you even born yet? The Aztecs started inauspiciously; but, in the end the Aztec offense and Ronnie Hillman were just too much. The smash-mouth play by the Aztecs and the suffocating defense destroyed Washington and tamed the hapless kitty-cat cougars. Hillman finished with 191 yards and now it’s time to start talking Heisman Candidate! Article viewed:138 … Read entire article »

Aztecs 1-0 while erasing infamous past with Cal-Poly in convincing fashion

Aztecs accomplish two things on Saturday’s opening day of college football; they avenge two embarrassing losses to an inferior team by crushing them 49-21; and, they found a wide receiver by the name of C. Locket. Got to love Colin’s speed and ability to shed a defender and gain a step. We should see him get better as he gets more comfortable in that position. Ronnie Hillman has yet another 100 yard game. What’s interesting about his performance is he ran for 189 yards and sat out most of the third quarter. I’m not pulling out the anointing oil just quite yet, but can you say Heisman candidate? Aztecs look a bit rusty in there expected win over Cal Poly. Lindley has a lukewarm performance and the defense takes two … Read entire article »

SDSU pick to finish fourth: What!

Ahhhh, maybe there is a slight oversight on my part. Let see now; well, we have a top 5 running back in the Nation-Check; ahhhhh, a top 5 Quarterback in the Nation that will be a first round NFL draft pick-Check; four of five returning starters on the O-line-check; one of the premier tight ends in college football-check; a defensive scheme that rivals the top defenses in the nation, and a seasoned head coach that will helm this potent defense-Check! Ahhhh, that gets you fourth place!!! I mean Air Force is predicted to get third! LOL. Hasn’t the media learned; have they not done their homework on the MWC. Or, is it that disrespect thing again with SDSU. Oh-boy, its that ignorant media rearing its ugly little head again. That media … Read entire article »

Walter Camp last of major awards to release watch list

Finally, and mercifully, our long national watch list nightmare has come to an end as the prestigious Walter Camp Award has become the final major award to announce its 2011 preseason group of players to watch. A total of 40 players made the initial Camp watch list, including 2010 finalists LaMichael James of Oregon and Andrew Luck of Stanford. Of the 40 players on the list, 30 were from the offensive side of the ball and 10 the defensive. There are just four sophomores on the list — San Diego State running back Ronnie Hillman, South Carolina RB Marcus Lattimore, Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray and Wisconsin RB James White. Quarterback was the most popular position with 15 players named, followed by running backs and wide receiver with seven apiece. … Read entire article »

Recruit Profile: Dan Kottman

Once again, SDSU recruiting shows up in Texas and reels in a sleeper. Daniel Kottman from Denton Texas has committed to SDSU. This recruit appears to be a prototypical Rocky Long recruit; Kottman can bench press 315 pounds, squat 500, clean 330, and can do a standing back flip. He possesses the quintessential physical attributes that will make him a top-rated defensive player at the next level. He has great field awareness and explodes off the ball using a low center of gravity that enables him to shed his opposition with ease and pursue the ball with aggressiveness every play. The ability to disrupt offensive schemes early forces offenses into compromising situations which invariably leads to broken plays or turnovers. He is very fast for his size; capable of chasing … Read entire article »

Phil Steele’s 2011 ALL-MWC Team has 15 Aztecs on list

Just when you thought the season was over after Hoke-the-traitor left for browner pastures, SDSU’s football seems to be on the verge of emerging as a top contender for the MWC crown. 15 Aztecs, 5 of which made the 1st team are on Steele’s list. No surprise here, Ronnie Hillman made 1st team offense while 4 defensive players made 1st team defense. A shocker hit the Mesa when Ryan Lindley (arguably the top QB in the MWC) was put on the 2nd team behind Kellen Moore of Boise. Yeah, Moore is good, but he played in the WAC; a weaker conference than the MWC. This was an impressive showing for the Aztecs, who appear to present themselves as a formidable opponent this year; if early indications are worthy of consideration. … Read entire article »

Hoke screws SDSU and leaves for Michigan an abysmal program!

Hoke is a coward and a trader! He betrayed the fans and the devoted alumni of SDSU. Promising them a fortuitous future and a change to a winning culture. Instead, we got a coach who bulls*****d everyone into believing his rhetoric about Aztec Warrior stadium; the winning tradition is back and all the other bloviation that came along with his dribble over the past 24 months. Hoke is joke and I hope he fails miserably at Michigan. You know, when someone talks about honor, commitment, tradition while touting the desire to win conference championships as a goal and then turns around the next day and flips the bird to school who believed in him no less than 2 years later; well, the hell with him! Borges is no better-that fat … Read entire article »

Rumors, Rumors, Rumors and More Rumors of Hoke’s next Right of Passage

I not sure about you, but I am completely fed-up with the national media hyperbole; the ill-informed sport blogging neophytes (i.e., the fan) and those annoying sport tics known as beat reporters who have anointed themselves to the role consummate prognosticators. Demagoguery and public discourse aside, Brady Hoke isn’t going anywhere. As far as the facts are concerned, he hasn’t spoken with Michigan about the head coaching position. Moreover, the SDSU AD hasn’t received a phone call from Michigan asking permission to speak with Hoke; yet, Michigan claims its going to make a decision within the next few days. News flash everyone: Brady Hoke isn’t going anywhere! Michigan isn’t the dream job that everyone thinks it is. They are losing top recruits left and right since the Rodriguez firing; … Read entire article »
