Katz, Butler, Baxter transfers to SDSU complete

Katz, Butler, Baxter transfers to SDSU complete

San Diego State may be a new member of the Big East, but its football team just got a huge dose of Pac-12 talent. Former Oregon State quarterback Ryan Katz, former USC wide receiver Brice Butler, and former USC tailback Dillon Baxter all finalized their transfers to SDSU on Wednesday, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune, and may begin participating in off-season activities with the football team immediately. Katz and Butler took advantage of the NCAA’s transfer exemption for graduate students, as both got their degrees … Read entire article »

Aztec’s get a bad call “stemming” from phantom movement

Big 12 officials apparently had sympathy for the “JUCO” Cajon’s: calling a “stemming” penalty against SDSU which would invariably lead to the game winning field goal for the “JUCO” Cajon’s. The official definition for “stemming” says defensive players “aligned in a stationary position within one yard of the line of scrimmage may not make quick or abrupt actions that are not part of normal defensive player movement.” Now, one could debate whether or not J.J Autele was making quick jolts or movements due the Cajon’s QB calling a hard count to try to draw an Aztec offsides; yet, despite subtle movement from J.J (“…normal defensive player movement”) he never encroached the line of scrimmage. However, it was a Cajon who in fact was offsides and should have been called for encroachment; this … Read entire article »

Aztecs suffer embarrassing bowl loss: lose to basically a “JUCO” Team

This loss disgusts me! Wow! What a humiliating loss. The Aztecs lose to a nobody team in a nobody bowl. What an utter disappointment and this loss leads me to believe that the Aztec football program has a looooooooooong way to go before SDSU can compete with the likes of a USC or an Alabama. Granted the officiating was rigged and horrendous; however, officiating should have never factored into this game. I mean this Louisiana team is a freakin Joke; so, what in the hell does that say about SDSU. I embarrassed as a fan when I have to tell colleagues that we lost to a team no one has ever heard of; LOL!!! I mean its not like we lost to LSU! Its a wake-up call folks. SDSU football better … Read entire article »

Aztec’s put a leash on the Dogs – win number 8 and get the Oil Can!

Congratulations to the Aztecs and most of all to the seniors! The Aztecs finish 8-4 for the second year in a row and will most likely receive a bowl invitation to either New Mexico or San Francisco. Ronnie Hillman had another field day, scoring 4 touchdowns for the third time in his career and rushing for 178 yards. Lindley finished with 281 yards passing and no touchdowns. Interesting to note that the Aztecs were down by 21 points before to Fresno State back in 1974 and came back to win: Got to love it win history repeats itself! Moreover, the last time the Aztec’s went to back-to-back bowls was during the 1967 and 1968 seasons, prior to SDSU entering the Division I level; they had never accomplished this at the … Read entire article »

Aztecs go to 5-3 against worst team in the 120 Team Div-I League

Aztecs were less than impressive in their first-half hard fought win against arguably the worst team in the last two years in Division-I football. Wow, a 7 point lead going into the second-half was unnerving to say the least as a fan. Watching the game during the first-half had me reminiscing about the Aztec’s of yesteryear; meaning, playing inconsistent football coupled with finding ways to keep teams in the game and subsequently lose. Well, they didn’t do that tonight and found a second-half gear to dismantle any residual threat by New Mexico to win 35-7. Ronnie Hillman gets player of the game once again with 29 carries for 143 yards. Article viewed:93 … Read entire article »

Hillman Tabbed MW Co-Offensive Football Player of the Week

Hillman Tabbed MW Co-Offensive Football Player of the Week

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State sophomore running back Ronnie Hillman has been named the Mountain West co-Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in last Thursday’s 41-27 victory over Air Force, the conference office announced Monday. This week marks the second time this season that Hillman has been honored by the league and the fifth time overall in his career.   Hillman, who shared the offensive award with Boise State’s Doug Martin, carried 27 times for 172 yards … Read entire article »

TCU did what any team would do: follow the Michigan Game Plan

TCU did what any team would do: follow the Michigan Game Plan

I thought at first I was watching the Michigan game again; however, it wasn’t Michigan it was TCU. They did what any other team would do after scouting SDSU’s weaknesses against Michigan. They punched SDSU in the mouth the first two quarters then held on while watching SDSU struggle to play catch-up again! Now, don’t get me wrong, SDSU did gift TCU ten points and seven more thereafter because of Lindley’s errant pass that led … Read entire article »

Business as usual: Aztecs crush Cougars!

A 23 game losing streak to BCS teams and 19 consecutive losses to PAC-12 opponents is over!!!! 42-24 was the final score in front of almost 60,000 fans (57,286). The Aztecs are now undefeated and 3-0 for the first time since 1981. Think about that: where were you in 1981? Or, were you even born yet? The Aztecs started inauspiciously; but, in the end the Aztec offense and Ronnie Hillman were just too much. The smash-mouth play by the Aztecs and the suffocating defense destroyed Washington and tamed the hapless kitty-cat cougars. Hillman finished with 191 yards and now it’s time to start talking Heisman Candidate! Article viewed:72 … Read entire article »

Aztecs 1-0 while erasing infamous past with Cal-Poly in convincing fashion

Aztecs accomplish two things on Saturday’s opening day of college football; they avenge two embarrassing losses to an inferior team by crushing them 49-21; and, they found a wide receiver by the name of C. Locket. Got to love Colin’s speed and ability to shed a defender and gain a step. We should see him get better as he gets more comfortable in that position. Ronnie Hillman has yet another 100 yard game. What’s interesting about his performance is he ran for 189 yards and sat out most of the third quarter. I’m not pulling out the anointing oil just quite yet, but can you say Heisman candidate? Aztecs look a bit rusty in there expected win over Cal Poly. Lindley has a lukewarm performance and the defense takes two … Read entire article »

SDSU pick to finish fourth: What!

Ahhhh, maybe there is a slight oversight on my part. Let see now; well, we have a top 5 running back in the Nation-Check; ahhhhh, a top 5 Quarterback in the Nation that will be a first round NFL draft pick-Check; four of five returning starters on the O-line-check; one of the premier tight ends in college football-check; a defensive scheme that rivals the top defenses in the nation, and a seasoned head coach that will helm this potent defense-Check! Ahhhh, that gets you fourth place!!! I mean Air Force is predicted to get third! LOL. Hasn’t the media learned; have they not done their homework on the MWC. Or, is it that disrespect thing again with SDSU. Oh-boy, its that ignorant media rearing its ugly little head again. That media … Read entire article »
