Big-Boy Siragusa pulls the lever on SDSU

6-6, 300 pound Nico Siragusa made it official Sunday night when he called to confirm his commitment to SDSU. The offensive line is shaping up to be one of the best ever and Aztec fans should be excited about the upcoming season. With Siragusa; Austin Mass (6-4, 275); Kwayde Miller (6-8, 290); and Author Flores (6-6, 295) no longer will SDSU fans have to concern themselves with Aztec football and the ubiquitous undersized lineman. Rocky Long is proving his worth as a head coach already by amassing a formidable offensive line that is capable of playing the biggest of schools (yes that includes Michigan). Siragusa was a First-team All-CIF, San Diego selection this past season.

Siragusa demonstrates the ability to maul defenders when run blocking; his upper body playing strength allows him to steer and wall off defenders, creating good running lanes. Has the size with enough athleticism for the offensive tackle position at the major level of competition.

Siragusa is a classic late-bloomer who didn’t play his first year of football until his junior season. He showed up as a complete unknown at the Nike SPARQ combine in Long Beach but after measuring out at 6-foot-5, 310 pounds, throwing the power ball 42 feet and compiling the top SPARQ rating for all offensive linemen, he earned an invite to the Nike camp at USC the following day.
