Xavier Thames, now a former Washington State player has indicated that he is considering three programs before making his decision to transfer: St. Marys and SDSU are his favorites followed by Miami. All three schools have offered him a scholarship. Xavier is a 3-star PG, ranked 25th in the Nation in 2009 for the position (Source: ESPN). Xavier would add the needed depth at Point Guard and also bring a level experience that could lend him more playing time than what he was getting at Washington.
ESPN Evaluation in 2008: May, 2008: Thames is a combo-guard who I project will be playing point guard down the road in college. He has a terrific wiry frame with long arms that oozes upside.
A 90-Scout Grade and considered an immediate impact, LaBradford Franklin brings one of the two missing elements to an already superior SDSU basketball team: a point guard. Although DJ Gay proved to be an excellent substitute at Point Guard, Labradford promises to be that dynamic; basketball smart guard (3.8 GPA) that every team needs when trying to get to the next level.
In his debut with the B-Meg Derby Ace LLAMADOS in the Philipine Basketball Association (PBA) he collected 20 points and 10 rebounds in 35 minutes of play.
“Wade, 24, has emerged as the early yardstick for imports, leading the Llamados to a 2-0 record. He plays within Gregorio’s system, doesn’t stray from the gameplan and isn’t a ball hog. More than anything, Wade is coachable. He believes in Gregorio and trusts in his teammates. Wade isn’t the most explosive import in town but for Gregorio, that’s not a concern. The bottom line is what counts and so far, Gregorio isn’t complaining.”
“After the win over Sta. Lucia, Gregorio assessed Wade’s performance. “I thought Wade played well within our scheme of things,” said Gregorio. “He took shots that were within our offense. He played with great team play that he was satisfied playing off the ball when James (Yap) and KG were on a roll.”

I’m not suprised of course; why should an SDSU fan expect anything less. On April 6th the “moose” let every know that his Nov. 8th speech about commitment was in fact just that-except he forgot to preface that word with DE-commit!
“I wanted to commit to my hometown school and help get some of the top players in San Diego to join me,” said Jalil. “There will be a meeting at the end of the year about the top recruits in San Diego, and I told the coaches I want to be there. Hopefully my commitment can help get some of the top 2010 San Diego players to commit to San Diego at State?”
“They expressed the need to be dedicated and having heart, and I just felt San Diego State was the place for me,” said Jalil about the meeting with the Cathedral coaches.

I believe that says it all: His talk was cheap; premature and full of hot air. Despite Mustafa’s highfalutin speech about keeping top prospects (including himself) in San Diego, he decides to compound his mistake by committing to CAL-what-a-fool! His commitment was heart-less and once again those that are effected are the fans. I just wish once, when a player with conviction and “heart” says what he means: means what he says!! This character is going to soon realize that life is filled with hard decisions; but, those that invariably keep their commitments (by honoring their own word) find the greatest reward in knowing that they lived up to their commitment-not down to their selfishness.
Maybe Jalil should have consulted with Kawhi Leonard about living up to a commitment. Kawhi lived up to his promise and for that he will be kindly rewarded. Good luck Jalil; I just hope for your sake that choosing Cal because you wanted to party with your friends was the right choice.
