Brandon Davies: 3 Star (Rivals.com), 4-Star (Scout.com) and 75 scout grade the 6-8 Power Forward gives solid Verbal. He is a Utah grown product and is purported to be one of the best in-state recruits. Athlete profile: solid quickness, fundamentally good footwork; however, only decent in shot blocking. Look for him to firm up BYU’s defense with sound positioning underneath and good rebounding.

Kawhi Leonard, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound versatile wing from Riverside (Calif.) Martin Luther King gives SDSU the A-Okay with a Solid verbal. This might very well be the steal of teh year in NCAA recruiting class of 2009. Memphis, UCLA, not even Arizona could get to him. Its all about the weather and the beaches my Aztec cronies. Reports have him as a high-major prospect with NBA skill-set. His high school play gives every indication that he will be a solid 3-point shooter; averaging a whopping 45% from the arc. Averaging 17.2 ppg, he will be a challenge to stop. This player not only adds depth to an already potent class of recruits, he adds perimeter scoring power too. See Video below of his play.

A standout from Crawford High in San Diego, the 6-6, 220-pound Shelley set numerous records most notably a 76 point performance in a single game. He averaged 15.1 ppg and 5.8 rebounds. Tyrone was given a 4-star ranking from rivals150.com. He recieved a ESPN U scouts grade of 93 and was grouped within ESPN U’s top 100 players category. He was recruited by powerhouse college programs such as Arizona, UCLA, and Arizona State, but ended up at Pepperdine. While at Peperdine, he averaged 15.1 ppg; was named CollegeHoops.net Mid-Major Freshman All-American first teamer and set a Pepperdine freshman record by scoring 34 points vs. Cal State Northridge while playing during the 2007-2008 basketball season. Prior to leaving Pepperdine, Tyrone Shelley, the Waves’ highest-rated recruit in years, averaged 20.6 points over the final five games, scoring at least 16 in all five games. He is now an Aztec! Tyrone Shelley opting for a transfer back to his hometown San Diego Ca., and was offcially introduced as an Aztec by Steve Fisher in September of 2008. He will sit out the 2008-2009 season and be ready to play in 2009-2010.
This is an unexpected pick-up by Fisher, but not a suprise. The program has grown in talent and reputation over recent years and now shows a true potential to be a powerhouse program. The end result is local basketball prodigies are now taking notice and Aztec fans are starting to see the fruits of Fisher’s long and arduous re-building efforts.

Former SDSU basketball standout has signed with the Lakers’. Although a “training camp” signing he now has an opportunity to make in the NBA. His storied history with the Aztecs did not garner much attention during the 2007 draft; however, he found a home in France playing for the Entente Orleans during the 2007-2008 seasons. After a European tour, Heath came back to the states and played for the Los Angelos Clippers Pro-League team where he average 5.6 points per game.
Brandon Heath established his basketball prowess by setting many Aztec records; most notably, he amassed 2,189 points during his 4 year tenor at SDSU. This marks the second player in recent years to make it to the NBA. Marcus Slaughter had a short stint with the Miami Heat before going over to Israel to play for the Hapoel Jerusalem B.C.
