Basketball Icon John Wooden passes away at the age of 99

Jun 4

A coach that has set a standard of basketball excellence that we will not see again in our lifetimes.

“It’s the things you learn, when you know it all, that count”

Rest in Peace Mr. Wooden.

ESPN Preseason Poll has SDSU Basketball at 24th in the Nation!

May 11

From ESPN’s Andy Katz:

24. San Diego State: This Mountain West spot was originally reserved for BYU. Of course, the return of Jimmer Fredette gives the Cougars the top player in the league, but the combination of losing Michael Loyd (transferring) and senior Jonathan Tavernari makes me pause. New Mexico could’ve been here had Darington Hobson decided to stay in school. And picking UNLV would have been a safe choice, too. But I watched San Diego State push Tennessee to the brink in the first round and its talent abounds. Rebounding machine Kawhi Leonard is back for a second go-around, along with Billy White, Malcolm Thomas and D.J. Gay. The entire team is back. What the Aztecs must do is make themselves more of a national story. San Diego State has to get out and play national games to get some momentum heading into MWC play. This is a squad that should be seen more often.

SDSU gets lucky win over Colorado State!

Mar 11

It’s about time SDSU squeaks a win out instead of BYU, New Mexico, UNLV, UTAH, and Wyoming. I’ll take it! I know, one could argue that Colorado State lost one of its best players due to an ejection However, I know that while your using that against the Aztecs, your also taking into account that the Aztecs were playing with four starters that had broken hands; a reaggravated ankle sprain and a chest cold!!!

In any event congratulations to SDSU! It looks like they are going to get in to the tournament with ASU and Memphis losing. If this is the case, i will happy to say that I was wrong in predicting that the Aztecs were headed to the NIT once again. We shall see

It’s funny, I was watching a little of the UNLV-UTAH match and one of the sports commentator’s indicated that MWC Tourny was played at a Neutral site; he was having trouble saying this over the deafening roar of the UNLV fans as UNLV scored on the “NEUTRAL” site !!! HA!!! What a joke this tournament is; every year UNLV has the home court advantage on at the “Neutral” site! . I mean UNLV should win this thing every year! I hope there are some sensible fans that agree with me when I say that this setup has got to change. At least introduce a rotation; maybe a three school rotation between SDSU, UNLV and BYU for example. As it stands now it is a complete joke!

Kudos to Chase Tapley for a superior performance even with a BROKEN Finger! Prediction: Aztecs over New Mexico by 5; they move on to play BYU for the Championship!

What say you?
