Lindley and Hillman have strong Combine
Wearing number 11 at the NFL combine, Lindley’s strong arm shines during the post pattern exercise. Did not expect a stellar 40-yard dash from Lindely; however, that was expected given he is more of a pocket passer than a scrambling QB. I see Lindley going in the third round; but could sneak into the late second round. Teams will see him as a developmental QB ro the next few years. Most Llikely he serves as a backup but you never know given the opportunity and assuming his NFL development continues to improve he may start. Of course most of the “expert” demagoguing was focused on both Luck and Griffen; Lindley as expected gets less air time becuase the “experts” new little about him. But, Jon Gruden has mentioned him as … Read entire article »

SDSU’s Hillman adds bulk for NFL
BY Christopher Smith, Chargers.com One of the Aztecs’ most dynamic players in years wants to prove he has the size and durability to be productive in the NFL. INDIANAPOLIS – San Diego State sent four prospects to the NFL Combine this season, a sign of a program on the rise. The most well-known, Ronnie Hillman, finished with 1,981 yards of offense and 20 touchdowns in his final collegiate season. His numbers reminded many of Marshall Faulk, another SDSU running back who became an NFL Hall of Famer. To some NFL teams, one of the most elusive players in college football was a bit small. Hearing the feedback, Hillman moved to Indianapolis to train with other clients of agent Eugene Parker ahead of the Combine. Hillman gained 11 pounds of muscle and now is 200 pounds and … Read entire article »

Boycott XX1090 because Tex Myer is a doofus!
Its unfortunate that once again a cowering management team has kowtowed to the hyper-politically correct wacko’s. In early February the always popular and raucous Scott and BR are no more. Tex Meyer (that dumb-ass) decided to fire Scott based on a knee-jerk decision. Calling someone like Andrea Lloyd a Sasquatch (when its most certainly true) is by no means grounds to fire someone! However, this is the “violation” that got Scott got fired for; and … Read entire article »

Aztecs Imploding: Are they who we thought they were?
The Aztecs by all accounts were a team that most thought were going to be “rebuilding” this year. But as it turned out they started the season better than most thought; however, that perception began its downward spiral back on January 28th against Colorado and has continued ever since. Most considered the loss to Colorado to be Fatigue related; maybe so, but I didn’t necessarily see it that way. I just had a hunch (a … Read entire article »

SDSU loses to UNM: Who cares! We landed Shepard!!!
San Diego State lost the game. But it won the recruit. Four-star prospect Winston Shepard, a 6-foot-9 guard/wing/post from Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nev., called Coach Steve Fisher on Thursday morning and orally committed to the Aztecs. The blockbuster commitment came just hours after the Aztecs lost 77-67 at Viejas Arena to New Mexico, the only other school Shepard has visited. “I just felt comfortable with Coach Fisher and the staff,” said Shepard, who can’t sign a … Read entire article »

SDSU to play UCONN in a 4-year series beginning in 2013
Two teams with a combined five Final Four appearances will begin to appear on San Diego State’s schedule starting in the 2013-2014 season. Memphis (NCAA Tournament runners-up in 2008) and Connecticut (the team that defeated the Aztecs last year en route to the national championship) will begin a four-year series with SDSU once San Diego State joins the Big East in football and joins the Big West for all other sports in 2013. The Tigers—who are leaving Conference USA for the Big East in all sports starting in 2013—did not have a say in scheduling the series. As part of its move to the power basketball conference, Memphis had to agree on the four-year series, playing two games at Viejas Arena during that span. But The Tigers did not mind. ”I think obviously … Read entire article »

UNLV and the Officials “Steal” a game from SDSU!
It was a typical game at the Thomas and Mack arena, UNLV and the biased Officials “steal” a game from SDSU. WOW what a terrible officiating crew. I hope this crew isn’t at the MWC tournament; otherwise, might as well hand the Pebels the championship. Coupled that with SDSU careless play (16 turnovers) with the ball (3 in the final 40 seconds), the Aztecs should have won the game (Out scored UNLV 34-28 in the … Read entire article »

Mamadou Ndiaye: the tallest HS Player in the World at 7’5″
I wonder if Fisher is recruiting him? He makes Brian Carwell seem small…very small. What’s fascinating about Mamadou is he is only in High School, so he has room to grow some more. The guy literally just stands underneath the basket and dunks the ball; barely lifts his feet off the ground. See video. Article viewed:183 … Read entire article »

Aztecs win in “convincing” fashion-finally!
Aztecs come out strong to win their 20th game by beating TCU convincingly behind the superman-like acrobatics of Jamaal Franklin. The Aztecs have now secured their 20th win in 7 straight seasons; that’s impressive. The turn around could not have come at a better time. After playing three horrendous games against middling teams, the Aztecs are now back on track heading into the big show down against their arch nemesis UNLV. “As upset with the victory … Read entire article »

Aztecs sloppy but grind out a win-barely!
Not good. Just not good! Is it a carry over from Colorado? Not sure, but the Aztecs just do not look good. They seem stiff and slow in transition; moreover, hestitant and fraught with poor judgement. This errant play began at Wyoming and it hasn’t vaporized. They were 31 percent, 15/48 from the field against Boise, that’s five less buckets than at Colorado State. The Aztecs are held for 9 minutes before scoring-WOW! Not sure why they cant hit the basket. Xavier, he just seems lost; its as if he is still trying to find his way home from Wyoming. Yet, the bench comes through with ardent defense to keep the Aztecs in the game. Free throws win it for them but that won’t cut it in the tourny! Bottom line … Read entire article »
